Before I had my beautiful children I was extremely active. I was a competitive cheerleader, swimmer and spent most of my time outdoors. By 19 I was already married and pregnant with our first child. During pregnancy I began to have issues with my weight and energy. Since those can obviously be normal symptoms of pregnancy, they were overlooked. However, after my son was born, the weight gain began to increase rapidly. I gained about 15 pounds in one month, I was depressed, VERY tired and began passing out randomly. I knew that something wasn’t right and I wanted answers.
My doctor did a full blood test and determined that I had an autoimmune disease called Hashimoto’s. I was prescribed a medication that I would need to take for the rest of my life. Most people assume that thyroid issues are “easily treatable” with medication, but the truth is that every person is different and while the medication may help, there are are still many challenges.
Maintaining a healthy diet with frequent exercise is very important for those with thyroid complications. Before I became pregnant with my third child, I began to eat healthy, control my portions and exercise for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. I was able to loose 30 pounds in about 4 months and felt fantastic! I was finally on my way to reaching my weight loss goals!
I am now 11 months postpartum with our third child and have had ups and downs. I have gained back 5 pounds and I am still 40 pounds away from my goal weight. I am hoping that I can continue my weight loss goals while inspiring others, because if I can do it, you can too! Connecting with other moms and putting my insecurities out there is a great way for me to stay accountable. I will be using this site to post transformation pictures, meal plans, workout routines and more! If you would like to join me in reaching your goals, please feel free to contact me at any time.
